About The Subproject

The Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) program of BUET is the only internationally recognized Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering program of Bangladesh. The project aims to design a self-assessment (SA) exercise to provide an assessment in terms of some form of rating or comparison with other Naval Architecture program offering in other institutions in the world which will help to meet the accreditation requirements from Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), UK/ Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), and accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Through this sub-project, 16 core courses will be assessed and hence NAME department, BUET will be prepared to initiate the accreditation process from Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), UK/BAETE and eventually to ABET for this program. A comprehensive SA plan will be designed based on collected data and feedback from stakeholders. The faculty members involved in SA will be trained in a workshop and will meet periodically. A number of seminars will be organized to plan the way forward, particularly in view of the established quality education in NAME department. The SA report will be submitted to the external peer reviewer(s) after internal peer review. Feedback from the internal and external peer reviewer will be informed to the faculty members and the assessed courses will be updated accordingly.
