This subject provides a multi-disciplinary overview of problems and issues relevant for handling the design, construction, and operation of ports, harbors, canals, and other maritime facilities. The program prepares students at the undergraduate level providing a deeper theoretical insight to understand the technologies, concepts, methods, and hydrodynamic theories used in the planning, design, and construction of port and harbor facilities. Research activities span the successful port design, construction, and operation, typical environmental problems that are likely to be present in developing country ports, using automation and innovative technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain to improve its performance, evaluating major hazard in harbor engineering, etc.
