The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at BUET is an integral part of the Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultation (BRTC), actively engaged in research, testing, and consultancy for national projects. It maintains strong connections with various shipbuilding industries across the country. The department has successfully carried out several national projects, including cost analysis for different ship types, hydrostatic and stability booklets for various vessels, slipway capacity assessments, and reports on dredgers and dredging equipment. Additionally, it has provided evaluations of shipbuilding materials, ensuring the proper use of imported steel plates, angles, and marine propellers. The department has also contributed to the preparation of tender documents, including bid evaluations, soil investigation reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimations for specialized ships.
