Sponsorship for Underwater Robotics Competition by BUET Batch 90

The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME), BUET, is taking a significant step toward establishing its presence on the global stage through active participation in international underwater robotics competitions. As part of this vision, Team Black Pearl, representing the department, is set to compete in the prestigious RoboSub 2026. To support this international endeavor, BUET Batch 90 has generously sponsored the team with US$ 8,000.

The official fund transfer ceremony was held at the Seminar Room of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, BUET. The program was graced by Prof. Dr. Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, Honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET, attended the ceremony as the Special Guest. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Masud, Director, Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), BUET.

The BUET Career Center and the DSW office coordinated the ceremony. The ceremony commenced with a presentation by the students of Team Black Pearl, where they showcased their underwater robot prototype. The team demonstrated the conceptual development of the vehicle and presented detailed 3D designs of their model to the distinguished guests, highlighting the technical capabilities. Following the presentation, the honored guests delivered inspiring speeches, appreciating the team’s initiative and emphasizing the importance of research, technological advancement, and global participation. The sponsorship fund was then formally handed over to the Faculty Advisor of Team Black Pearl.

To show their gratitude, the DSW Office handed over gifts and the crest of appreciation to Mr. Abu Baker, who received it on behalf of BUET Batch 90, in recognition of their generous sponsorship.
